One of the things I love most about what we do at Indigo Laine is that no two projects are ever the same.
Some days we're making bags and wallets for customers who have been with us since the beginning. Other days we're working on custom pieces that end up backstage at a concert or comedy show. It's a little surreal when I stop and think about it.
Over the past few months, we've had the opportunity to partner with the Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi on several custom projects for artists and entertainers visiting South Texas. Through that partnership, we've created pieces for Parker McCollum, Bailey Zimmerman, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Rene Vaca, Jo Koy, and Ali Siddiq.
Every project starts with an idea.
Sometimes it's inspired by the artist, sometimes by the event itself, and sometimes it's simply about creating something meaningful that represents South Texas and the people who made it great.
Then our team gets to work.
The leather is cut, stitched, finished, and assembled right here in our workshop in Sinton. The same women who make the bags hanging in our store are the ones creating these custom pieces. That's one of the things I'm most proud of. Everything is made by hand, in-house, by a team that truly cares about the details.
What makes these projects special isn't necessarily the names attached to them. It's the fact that a small business from a small town gets to be part of something bigger.
Ten years ago, if you had told me that leather goods made in our shop would end up in the hands of nationally known artists and entertainers, I probably wouldn't have believed you. Back then, I was just trying to figure out how to make one bag at a time.
But that's been the story of Indigo Laine from the beginning. One opportunity leads to another. One relationship opens the door to the next. One project becomes something bigger than we ever imagined.
We're incredibly grateful to the Hilliard Center for continuing to trust us with these projects and for supporting local makers along the way.
And while we can't share all the details just yet, we've got a few exciting projects in the works for some major artists that we're looking forward to revealing soon.
For now, we're doing what we've always done, show up each day, make beautiful things, and see where the journey takes us.
