Leather Care Instructions

Carry it. Let it change.

Leather is meant to be used. Its grain, tone, and markings are different from hide to hide, and everyday use adds more character over time. Caring for it is simple: clean gently, keep it away from soaking water and excess heat, and give it a little attention now and then.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Your Indigo Laine piece is made to be used often and loved for years. Full-grain leather is low-maintenance by nature, so keeping it clean and conditioning it when it needs it is all it takes to let the natural wear become part of the story.

A SIMPLE ROUTINE

Keep It Clean

For everyday dust and dirt, wipe your piece down with a soft, dry cloth. If it needs more than that, use a clean cloth that is only slightly damp and work gently over the leather.

Avoid soaking it or reaching for harsh household cleaners. Leather doesn't need much fuss, and gentler care will always serve it better.

Condition Every Few Months

A small amount of conditioner every three to four months will help keep the leather soft, rich, and protected from drying out. We love using Smith’s All Natural Leather Balm.

Test the conditioner on a small, hidden area first. Then apply a light, even layer with a soft cloth, let it absorb, and buff away any excess. A little goes a long way.

Let It Dry Naturally

If your piece gets caught in the rain, gently blot away the moisture with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub, and do not use a heater, hair dryer, or direct heat to speed things along.

Let it air dry in a cool, dry place. If it is a bag, lightly stuff the inside with clean paper or a soft cloth as it dries to help it keep its shape.

PROTECT FROM EXTREMES

Extended exposure to direct sunlight or heat can dry out leather and change its color. Keep your piece out of extreme conditions when you can, and give it a little extra conditioner if it spends a lot of time outdoors.

STORE WITH CARE

When your piece is taking a break, keep it somewhere cool and dry. A dust bag is a good way to protect it between uses, and lightly stuffing bags will help them hold their shape.

Skip plastic bags and containers, which can trap moisture. Leather needs room to breathe.

LET IT WEAR IN

Full-grain leather is not meant to stay perfectly untouched.

Small scratches, marks, and changes in color are part of what make each piece personal. With time, the leather softens, deepens, and takes on a look that is entirely its own.

The best thing you can do is carry it often. We made it to go with you.
