Some projects let us stay close to what we know, while others give us a reason to try something new. Creating a custom guitar case for Ella Langley gave us the chance to do both.
Since January 2026, we have partnered with The Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi to create artist gifts for touring performers, including Parker McCollum, Jo Koy, Bailey Zimmerman, Rene Vaca, and Ali Siddiq.
When Ella’s turn came around, we wanted to create something that felt personal, practical, and completely at home with her.
A Guitar Case Made Just for Ella
For Ella, we created a custom soft case patterned specifically around her Gibson SJ 200 guitar.
We also added a backpack strap to make it easy to carry while traveling, whether she is headed backstage, through an airport, or on to the next stop.
Projects like this are a natural fit for us because everything is designed, cut, sewn, and finished in our South Texas workshop. Starting from scratch gave us the freedom to build the case around both the guitar and the person carrying it.
Finding the Right Direction
Before we started designing, I spent quite a bit of time looking at Ella’s style, both on stage and off.
She tends to keep things simple, with just enough flare to make a look feel like her. We wanted to bring that same balance into the case. The goal was not simply to add her name to a leather guitar case. We wanted the finished bag to feel so natural to her that she might have chosen the details herself.
Bringing Indigo Laine and Ella Together
The Hilliard Center gave us complete creative freedom, with only two requests: include Ella’s name and a dandelion.
We started with our signature Montana leather and brass hardware, then added our pinked edge detail around the zipper casing. Those choices kept the case grounded in the Indigo Laine look.
To bring in more of Ella’s personality, we added weathered metallic fringe and dandelion details. The combination felt like just the right meeting point between her style and ours.
A Project That Felt Personal
Fringe and embellishments are not something we usually add to our bags, so this project gave us a chance to have a little more fun with the details. The weathered metallic fringe brought movement and personality while still keeping the overall look simple and true to Ella’s style.
Indigo Laine is women led and operated, with a small team of women making everything by hand here in South Texas. There was something especially meaningful about our team getting to create this for Ella, a woman building something of her own and putting world class music out into the world.
Ready for the Road
We made this bag with the hope that Ella will use it often and take it wherever the music leads.
We hope it gets carried, traveled with, set down backstage, and picks up a few stories along the way. That is when leather gets better, growing softer and more beautiful with time.
More than anything, we hope Ella feels at home with it from the start. We are cheering her on and wishing her all the best in everything ahead, and it means a lot to know something made here in South Texas may be right there with her along the way.
